Same Different Music Me Program

1. Connection Workshop/ Event Launch (October 2021)

SDM storytellers present their performance pieces to the musicians (both local and int) as part of a workshop. A dialogue between musicians and performers would be facilitated to explore points of identification and disconnection etc with material presented. Likewise, musicians could share their music and what drives this music. This dialogue will inform the next creative step.

  • Date: 15th October 2021, 6pm – 8pm
  • Venue: Online in Zoom
  • Duration: Approximately 2hr.

2. Small Group Workshops ( October – November 2021)

Live and online fortnight workshops that continue the creative exploration between performance and musicians. They are small group workshops that combine musicians and performers to prepare their pieces for presentation and are guided by the art director.

  • Date: (1st) Week 25 – 31 Oct and (2nd) Week 8-14 Nov
  • Venue: Depend on Covid-19 restriction either online through zoom or in person at Phoenix Youth Centre, Footscray.
  • Duration: Approximately 2hr.
  • Number of workshops: Expected to be 3 – 4 small group workshops per week, total 6 – 8 sessions.

3. Final Performance at the Phoenix Youth Centre or via Zoom (December 2021)

Storytellers and musicians perform/present their discoveries. An audience of international students and the wider community would be invited to watch and join the conversation in relation to material presented.

  • Date: 9th December 2021
  • Venue: Depend on Covid-19 restriction either online through zoom or in person at Phoenix Youth Centre.
